Attorney & Law Student Mentoring
Events
Christian mentoring is the method Jesus and his apostles used to train the
next generation of Christian leaders (Paul and Timothy and so on). The
Christian Legal Society knows the importance of mentoring for Christian
attorneys and law students, both facing a society and academic world largely
hostile to their faith. We are excited to offer materials and any support
necessary for your chapter to begin thinking about instituting a mentoring
program today.
The cities/chapters that have local law schools are great places for local
Christian attorneys and law students to take the mentoring step. We
believe holding at least two mentoring meetings during the academic year offer
an invaluable chance for students and attorneys to learn from each other in a
mutually beneficial setting. It is our desire that each of our student
chapters have this same opportunity.
Our model is both the Denver CLS Chapter and the DC Metro CLS Chapter, which
hold mentor meetings for attorneys and law students. Recent mentor events
included several speakers and gave local students and attorneys the opportunity
to meet, network and learn about mentoring. The ultimate goal of each
event is to pair CLS attorneys with LSM students in mentor-mentee relationships
in order to foster spiritual guidance, prayer and encouragement.
If you or your chapter are interested in hosting your own event you may want
to review the linked materials. They include tips for mentors, sample
event announcements, student/attorney questionnaires and supplementary
articles. If you would like to get in touch with your local CLS attorney
chapter please contact our Membership Director, David Nammo at (703) 642-1070
ext. 3300 or dnammo@clsnet.org. Additionally, should you encounter
problems or further questions in establishing your own annual local event please
don’t hesitate to contact our national office at the above
number.
