2016 NORTHEAST REGIONAL RETREAT
February 5 - 7, 2016 • Frost Valley YMCA
ROOMS ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR ATTORNEYS & LAW STUDENTS!
2016 Northeast Regional Retreat
Come join Christian law students, attorneys and their families at the Frost Valley YMCA for a time of spiritual renewal, relaxation and fellowship at the Northeast Regional Retreat in Claryville, NY, February 5-7, 2016.
We'll offer a CLE session, seminars and workshops for lawyers and law students, and time for relaxation and fellowship! As always, we'll eat as a group in the Frost Valley dining hall and we will have full access to all the activities on site. Below is our advance description of the retreat, price and accommodations.
For law students, there will be additional times of fellowship and sharing, a late-night campfire, weather and wood permitting, and several breakout workshops designed for students, though attorneys are encouraged to attend. As explained below, students are invited to attend at a deeply reduced rate.
2016 Retreat Speaker: Professor Jeff Brauch
Professor Brauch joined the Regent Law faculty in 1994. From 1999-2000, he served as the school's interim dean, and as dean from 2000-2015.
Professor Brauch has taught Christian Foundations of Law, International Human Rights, Civil Liberties and National Security, Civil Procedure, Appellate Advocacy, International Criminal Law and other courses.
He helped create the law school's Center for Global Justice, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law, and he has served as director of Regent's Summer Program in International Law and Human Rights in Strasbourg, France.
Prior to teaching, Professor Brauch served as a law clerk for Justice William Callow of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and then worked five years as an associate with Milwaukee law firm Quarles & Brady, where he specialized in commercial litigation.
He and his wife Becky have four children, Cynthia, Melissa, Christina, and Jeffrey. Professor Brauch is an elder at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, and he and Becky lead the college and career ministry. Professor Brauch loves the music of Beethoven, European History, and the Green Bay Packers - not necessarily in that order.
Attorneys and Families
The registration fee for attorneys is $225. Spouses pay the reduced rate of $95. Children 16 and over are $85, ages 6-15 are $75, and under 6 are FREE. These fees include all the programming and meals:
Programming includes our meeting space, CLE, breakouts, and all activities at the YMCA, including snow-tubing, archery, broom-ball, cross-country skiing (and skis), floor hockey, and candle-making. Meals include snack Friday night after arrival; full breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday (coffee break snacks, too); and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. CLS childcare will be provided!
Attorney Lodging: Attorneys and families will be staying in the hotel-style Lakeview Lodge, a very nice facility located next door to our meeting space. The rate for the lodge is $290 for the weekend (2 nights).
This year we are limited to the 24 rooms in the Lodge (occupancy up to 4 per room), on a first-come, first-served basis (we will keep a waiting list). The rooms include two full-size beds (perfect for splitting the cost with a roommate). Please register NOW to guarantee availability in Lakeview Lodge.
Please note: If you are an attorney who has been practicing fewer than five years, you may opt to stay in the law student cabins (see below), rather than paying for a room in the Lakeview Lodge.
In addition, we have limited scholarships available for those who would like to attend the retreat but cannot due to finances. Please contact Joe Ruta at firstname.lastname@example.org to request financial assistance.
The law student fee for the entire weekend is only $65-- this covers meals, lodging, program, and transportation! Student spouses are invited to register at this rate as well. Space is limited! We will save spaces on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register as soon as possible! Please contact Mike Schutt directly with any registration questions at email@example.com.
Student Registration includes:
- Lodging in 12-bed/2 BR/2 Bath cabins;
- Meals (Friday night snack, Saturday breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner, and Sunday breakfast and lunch);
- All activities (tubing, cross-country skiing, candle-making, observatory, and broomball),
- Transportation: Free bus chartered from NYC (registration online required.)

Any registrant may utilize this option but must request a seat by contacting Mike Schutt (firstname.lastname@example.org) as seating is limited. The bus is free for students and their spouses.
